The devastation and loss is so great and has actually hit closer to home than I could've thought. My husband, as many of you know, worked for Honda for 11 years before moving up to Michigan last summer. The moment we heard the news we were both emailing friends in Japan and down in Ohio at Honda. Most are as okay as you can be over there, however, HGT (The Honda plant Mike often visited in Utsinomiya, Japan) had one fatality; Masa-san, whom was a young man like my Mikey and had two young children. Masa worked in the same department as Mike and would take him out for dinner after meetings and such. This is just one of millions of stories and I am so blessed to work for a company that is willing and able to help. I, myself, am planning to buy several sets in an effort to help in one of the only ways I can and will give them away to friends and family as gifts. Computer Virus Be Gone!...For Now.

On December 17th I was working on my lovely red laptop when the screen.went.black.  Wiped out.  I finally got my computer back after weeks of trying to resolve the issues and finally just spending the $$$ and bringing in the professionals.

Happy Anniversary Sweetie (inspired by the H2H Challenge)

Yesterday, my hubby and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary and I had been putting this card together in my head all week after seeing the color challenge on the Heart2Heart Website.  It reminded me of a sunset and though it would be perfect.

I didn't want the ink sponging to cover my stamped images so I embossed the couple on the bench and the tree with VersaMark Ink and then My Exclusive Inks in Barn Red and Clear Embossing Powder all from CTMH.  The stamped images are from My Acrylix Childhood Portrait, another fave set of mine.

Finally, I just love the textured look of folded, twisted and torn paper so I found some scraps in the colors I needed from some My Reflections Kits I had laying around.  The Barn Red paper is from Passages and the Sunset paper is from the brand new Olivia set.

A Frightening Fun Bookmark Treat

I wanted to make a fun "treat" for my daughter's 3rd grade class' halloween party and I've been wanting to try out a corner bookmark for a while so I combined the two!  I believe it could be almost as good as the candy they'll get; almost..  This is what it looks like:

The template is rather easy and can be found here on Splitcoast Stampers website.  It basically starts out with a 4x4 Cardstock Square with the corners folded back and a 2 3/4" square sliced diagonally in half and glued to either side of the folded back 4x4" square to form your bookmark base.  It is up to your own creative juices to design the rest!  Have fun and go crazy!

Embossing Challenge, A Great Card Box and Workshop Goodies!

Okay, so this week is my Christmas Card Workshop which I am SOOO excited about!  We are making 50 cards (thank you Antoinette Herrin for your awesome template) for only $30!!!  We are meeting at this beautiful little Inn called The Timbers Inn; think:  Rustic Cabin and you've got it!  It is going to be such a nice evening getaway my girls will never want to go home!  So I just had to make them some equally memorable goodies and prizes!

lenge is Embossing, so naturally I had to use some embossing technique for my card box.  I love using embossing for really special occasions like Weddings, Anniversaries and Christmas!  It is such a pretty and elegant look.

For the goodies I finally tried a project that has been in my idea binder for a while!  I stamped on the top of little votive candles and I just LOVE the way it came out.  It is so simple I don't know why I didn't try it sooner!  You just use a circle punch to punch out the tissue paper (I backed my tissue paper with cardstock so it would punch out cleaner), stamp your desired small image onto tissue paper, punch a small hole in middle for wick to fit through, slip it on top of the candle and melt the wax slightly using your heat embossing tool to make the tissue paper "adhere" to the candle!  Easy peasy-lemon squeasy!  I then used a strip of B&T (background and texture) paper to go around the outside of the candle for a more finished look.  Voila!  Goodie Gifts for my Guests!  I hope they lo

Another Answer to the Leaves and Trees Challenge

I nearly forgot I did this one earlier in the week before my stone started to interfere with my life.  And I really want H2H website to continue growing and finally get to the 4 for 40 challenge!!! (If they have 40 entries, someone is randomly chosen to win a prize!)  My entries are #36 and #37... 
This Tri-Fold card is a total scraplift from Jamia Malme; one of my favorite CTMH Consultant sisters (even though we've never met).  I used it also as she suggested to showcase how CTMH makes everything Faster.Simpler.Easier. by demonstrating the making of this card from start to finish while at a party!

It is a single sheet of CS cut into an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" rectangle, scored at 2 3/4" and again at 4 3/4" and then random stamped using your favorite color combo at the moment and a single stamp image or two, or three!  I love, love, love Random Stamping (does anyone else here the booming voice from I-Carly that shouts out "Random Dancing.." in their head everytime you say Random Stamping?!  Okay, just me.. but I digress.)

In this instance I again used the Timeless Stamp set found only in the Olivia WOTG kit, Olivia colors of Sunset, Pear and Barn Red, one 3x3 square of Hollyhock cardstock and also the Grown With Love Stamp Set for the tree.  All of these items are Close to My Heart and can be found here on my website.

Leaves and Trees Challenge on H2H

Boy are my kidneys trying to get the best of me this week!  Ugh.  I'm attempting to pass a stone and either I'm in major pain or the Vicodin is, for lack of a better term, making me high!  Ha!  I'm not letting it sap another minute though, of my time! 

I was in the process of making invitations for the family to come to our new home for Thanksgiving dinner when I saw the H2H Challenge this week to craft something with leaves and trees.  I knew I was going to use CTMH's new Olivia paper already and had some ideas for leaves or acorns already.  I really enjoyed how these came out and I hope you like it too.

Notice how the Vicodin ate away at my brain on the back of the card, however; I forgot to sign it!!!  Hello?!   Anyway...

September Stamp of the Month is a "Thriller"

I played a lot today with this month's Stamp of the Month, "Thriller" and I need not say, "I love it!"  It was so fun, cute and melancholy!  I made these two cards for some upcoming parties and craft shows.  All I used was Hooligans Level 2 paper, the Thriller Stamp Set, Black Ink and SPARKLES!  (love 'em!)  All Close to My Heart products which can be ordered on my website here.

Birthday Present for Mom-in-Law (Don't Look Yet Mom!)

A few weeks ago I attended a Team Meeting in Westland, MI (where I met some of the women I have been inspired by for a while!  Yay!) and we were given this cute mini album to put together.  I believe the original creation was from Dana Swadling-Thanks Dana!

I have been dying to put it together and finally had some time today while all my kiddos were finally back to school.  I used the 6x6 My Creations Accordian Album (it ONLY costs $3.95!!!) with Passages My Reflections paper with coordinating cardstock, the new Foundry Flourishes,  Marks Passages, Just Blooms Spring Blossom Collection and Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems.  I also used Cocoa ink and My Acrylic Stamp Sets The Present (New this Idea Book) and Live Inspired.

I cut no corners when it comes to gifting for friends and family plus I LOVE making these types of items.  I tried to take pictures to show you all the wonderful angles and spots to put pictures.  I really hope she loves this as much as I do.  I also made a matching birthday card (of course) to give with the album.

This has to be one of my fave layouts!!!

So today was my first blissful day alone whilst the kiddos were in school.  Short lived as it was (2 1/2 hours with the boys in preschool) I know I will get the break every day!!!!

I'm getting some of my workshop samples done and first up today was my October Workshop on the Go with the Close To My Heart kit, Olivia. 

I love the colors (fall kits always seem to be one of my faves for really getting me in the mood) and the Olivia kit is fantastic!  I got a chance to use one of the new colors, Smoothie, and I learned some really fun new tricks to use with my sandpaper!!  I printed these A-dorable pics from when my baby girl was just 2 1/2 (she's 8 now and all attitude) on our first ever trip to the Pumpkin Farm.  A trip which became an annual pilgrimage with all my kiddos.  Now that we are in Michigan, I have to find a new fantastic fall haunt.  Anyone with suggestions for the Grand Rapids area are more than welcome to post here!
